American Senators: If Threats from the Islamic Republic Continue, Trump Will Attack Iran Again

A group of American senators, mainly from the Republican Party, say that if the Islamic Republic continues its nuclear and missile adventures, Donald Trump will have no hesitation in attacking Islamic Republic positions in Iran again. The Jewish Insider published the views of a group of U.S. senators regarding the possibility of another U.S. attack on Iran if the Islamic Republic continues its nuclear and missile activities. According to the publication, John Kennedy, a Republican senator from Louisiana, commented on the likelihood of a renewed attack on Iran, stating that Trump's willingness to order recent operations that led to the ousting of Nicolás Maduro, the president of Venezuela, last week could be a sign of the president's intent to resume attacks against Iran. Kennedy said, "I don't think these two are related. I also believe that if Iran moves again towards developing nuclear weapons, or significantly increases its missile count, the president should strike them, and I believe he will do so." Pete Ricketts, a Republican senator from Nebraska, also spoke about another round of attacks on Iran, saying, "President Trump shows that we have the best military in the world. And if he believes we need to strike Iran again, I believe he will do it." Rick Scott, a Republican senator from Florida, told the Jewish Insider, "I think such a possibility exists." He added, "If they move forward again and start building nuclear facilities, yes, I think Trump will bomb them thoroughly." In contrast, some more conservative Democratic senators have commented. In these discussions, Richard Blumenthal, a Democratic senator from Connecticut, emphasized the threat posed by Iran's missile and nuclear programs, stating, "We need to be considering what actions might be appropriate if Iran advances in its missile and nuclear programs; programs that are clearly an immediate and serious threat to us and Israel." However, another Democratic senator, Tim Kaine from Virginia, who is a prominent figure in the Senate trying to limit the president's war powers and prevent further actions in Venezuela, told the Jewish Insider that the United States should not deploy its military in response to protests, especially without discussion and approval from Congress. Kaine said, "This president should not recklessly use the media and send the military as his palace guard here and there; not Nigeria, not Iran, not Venezuela, not international waters, not Cuba, not Mexico, not Panama, not Greenland. This should be a topic of discussion with Congress." These remarks come as Donald Trump has warned that if the Islamic Republic kills protesters, the United States will act. On Saturday, by the order of the U.S. president, Nicolás Maduro, the president of the Venezuelan regime, was arrested from the capital of that country and transferred to the United States for trial; an action that, according to observers, has affected Tehran's calculations.
