This Editorial Policy describes how Artesh Intelligence gathers, processes, and presents news content. We are committed to transparency about our methods, especially our use of artificial intelligence in translation.
1. Our Editorial Mission
Artesh Intelligence exists to make Iranian news accessible to English-speaking audiences by:
- Aggregating news from diverse Iranian media sources
- Translating Persian-language content into English
- Providing context through entity tracking and source analysis
- Presenting information from across the political spectrum without editorial bias
We are a news aggregator and translator, not an original news organization. We do not conduct original reporting inside Iran. We make existing journalism accessible to new audiences.
2. AI-Assisted Translation
2.1 How We Use AI
Artesh Intelligence uses artificial intelligence (specifically, large language models) to translate Persian-language news articles into English. This allows us to process a high volume of content and make it available quickly.
AI is used for:
- Translating article headlines and body text from Farsi to English
- Generating article summaries
- Extracting named entities (people, organizations, places, events)
- Calculating importance scores to prioritize significant stories
- Generating SEO titles and meta descriptions
- Creating article featured images (for high-importance stories)
AI is NOT used to:
- Create original news content or fabricate information
- Editorialize or add opinions not present in source material
- Make predictions or speculative claims
2.2 Translation Quality
We use state-of-the-art language models (GPT-4 class) optimized for news translation. Our system:
- Preserves the meaning and structure of original articles
- Maintains proper nouns (names, places, organizations) accurately
- Adapts idiomatic expressions for English readers
- Flags articles with low translation confidence for review
2.3 Limitations and Transparency
AI translation has limitations:
- Nuance: Some Persian expressions may lose nuance in translation
- Context: Cultural references may not fully translate
- Errors: Occasional mistranslations may occur despite high accuracy rates
- Names: Transliteration of Persian names may vary from other sources
We include translation confidence scores internally and flag articles that may require additional verification. Articles with confidence below 85% are reviewed before publication.
2.4 Disclosure on Articles
Every translated article on our platform includes the disclosure:
“This article was translated from Farsi using AI and reviewed for accuracy.”
This ensures readers understand our methodology.
3. Source Selection and Diversity
3.1 Source Categories
We aggregate content from four main categories:
State Media: Official government and IRGC-aligned outlets (IRNA, Fars News, Tasnim, etc.)
- Value: Understanding official regime narratives and policy signals
- Limitation: Propaganda and censorship concerns
Opposition/Diaspora Media: Persian-language outlets critical of the regime (BBC Persian, Iran International, Radio Farda, etc.)
- Value: Alternative perspectives and coverage of suppressed stories
- Limitation: May have own political agendas
Human Rights Organizations: Groups documenting civil liberties (HRANA, IHR, CHRI)
- Value: Detailed documentation of arrests, executions, protests
- Limitation: Focus on negative developments
Economic/Business Sources: Financial news outlets (Financial Tribune, Tehran Times)
- Value: Market intelligence and economic data
- Limitation: May reflect government economic messaging
3.2 Source Diversity Scoring
For major stories, we show a “source diversity score” indicating how many different source types have covered the story. This helps readers understand:
- Whether a story is widely reported or single-source
- How state and opposition media frame the same event differently
- Which stories are being emphasized or suppressed by different outlets
3.3 Source Reliability
We assign internal reliability scores to sources based on historical accuracy, editorial standards, and transparency. However, we include all major sources regardless of reliability to present a complete picture of Iran’s media landscape.
4. Content Standards
4.1 Attribution
Every article clearly identifies:
- The original source publication
- A link to the original Farsi article (when available)
- The original publication date
- Source type classification (state, opposition, etc.)
4.2 Accuracy
We strive for accuracy in translation and presentation. However, we do not independently verify claims made by original sources. Readers should understand that:
- State media may contain propaganda
- Opposition media may have incomplete information
- Numbers and statistics should be treated as claims, not confirmed facts
4.3 What We Don’t Do
- We do not add editorial commentary to translated articles
- We do not selectively omit content from translations
- We do not create original reporting or journalism
- We do not endorse the views expressed in any source
5. Importance Scoring
We use AI to assign importance scores (0-100) to articles based on:
- International significance
- Impact on Iranian citizens
- Presence of high-profile entities
- Breaking news characteristics
- Human rights implications
Higher-scoring articles receive priority placement and additional processing (premium AI for headlines, generated images, etc.).
This scoring is automated and based on objective criteria, not editorial judgment about which stories “should” receive attention.
6. Entity Database
Our entity database tracks people, organizations, and events mentioned in articles. Entity information:
- Is extracted automatically by AI
- May be supplemented with Wikipedia and other public data
- Tracks mention frequency and sentiment over time
- Does not include editorial characterizations
7. Financial Data
Market data is sourced from:
- Public exchange rate websites (Bonbast, TGJU)
- Financial APIs (Yahoo Finance, CoinGecko)
- Tehran Stock Exchange public data

8. Corrections Policy
We are committed to correcting errors:
Translation Errors: If you identify a significant mistranslation, contact us at [email protected] with:
- The article URL
- The error description
- The correct translation
Technical Errors: For factual errors in our own content (not source content), we will:
- Investigate promptly
- Correct the error
- Note the correction at the bottom of the article
- Maintain a public corrections log
Source Errors: We cannot correct errors in original source reporting, but we may add editor’s notes when sources issue corrections or when claims are disputed by other credible sources.
9. Independence and Funding
Artesh Intelligence is independently operated. We are not funded by, affiliated with, or controlled by:
- Any government (Iranian, US, or other)
- Any political party or movement
- Any Iranian opposition group
- Any advocacy organization
Our operations are funded through sustainable business practices. We do not accept funding that would compromise our editorial independence.
