Amputation of a Suspect's Hand and Foot for Armed Robbery in Mashhad

The newspaper Khorasan reported the amputation of the right hand and left foot of a suspect involved in armed robbery from banks in Mashhad. This suspect, referred to by the initials 'Rahman-K', had his sentence issued by the Second Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Mashhad, and due to the lack of appeal from the suspect, the sentence became final and was executed. The newspaper detailed that 'Rahman-K' was accused of armed robbery from banks in Mashhad in collaboration with two others, and on February 8, 2014, three masked and armed motorcyclists robbed the National Bank branch on Faramarz Abasi Boulevard in Mashhad, stealing over 129 million tomans in cash. Shortly after, law enforcement was informed, and officers apprehended one of the robbers while another was shot. The third suspect was arrested later. During the investigation of the robbers' hideout, several weapons, ammunition, bulletproof vests, and vehicles used in other robberies were discovered. They confessed to seven armed robberies from banks in Mashhad and were ultimately charged with 'Moharebeh' (waging war against God). The Second Branch of the Revolutionary Court sentenced both suspects, 'Rahman-K' and 'Mahdi-R', not only to prison and other penalties but also to the amputation of their right hand and left foot due to the charge of 'Moharebeh'. Khorasan emphasized that the armed robbers did not appeal the ruling, and after the legal deadline had passed, the execution of the sentence was carried out on Tuesday morning with the presence of judges in Mashhad's central prison.
