Five Iranians and Three Afghans Killed in Syria Clashes

Reports indicate that at least five Iranians and three Afghans have been killed in clashes in Syria over the past few days. According to the IRNA news agency, the body of Ahmad Estahkami was transferred to Shiraz on Thursday, October 30, and his funeral will be held on Friday in Jahrom County. The head of the Martyrs Foundation and Veterans Affairs of Jahrom County referred to Ahmad Estahkami as a 'defender of the shrine' who was killed in Syria. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the funeral of Nader Hamid Deilami was also held in Ahvaz. Iranian media reports indicate that he was killed in Syria. Abbas Kabi, a representative from Khuzestan in the Assembly of Experts and a member of the Qom Seminary Teachers Society, attended Nader Hamid Deilami's funeral. Some Iranian news sites report that Nader Hamid Deilami was severely injured by gunfire last week and was hospitalized in a Syrian hospital, but after a few days, he fell into a coma and passed away. Additionally, reports indicate that the funerals of Majid Sanei and Mojtaba Karami, who were also killed in Syria, were held on Wednesday in Hamedan. The funerals for three Afghan citizens were held in Qom. According to Iranian media, Majid Sanei-Movafaq, a member of the 161st Imam Hussein Brigade from Hamedan, and Mojtaba Karami, a member of the 154th Commando Brigade from Hamedan, were killed in Syria. Iranian media have not provided further details about how these individuals were killed, referring to them only as 'defenders of the shrine' in Syria. In this context, the funeral for Reza Damroodi, another Iranian force killed in Syria, was held on Wednesday in Sabzevar County. Reports indicate that Reza Damroodi's body was transferred to his hometown, the village of Damroud in the Rudab district of Sabzevar. Reports also indicate that on Wednesday, the funerals for three Afghan citizens killed in Syria were held in Qom. According to Basij news agency, Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini, Seyyed Zia Hosseini, and Ali Gholami were three Afghan citizens killed in the clashes. Meanwhile, in the past three weeks, at least three commanders of the IRGC have been killed in Syria. The news of the death of Hossein Hamadani, one of the senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was published two weeks ago. The Syrian army, along with Hezbollah forces from Lebanon and with Russian air support, has recently launched extensive operations in various regions of Syria against the forces opposing Bashar al-Assad. Western media report that two thousand Iranians are involved in these recent operations, but Iranian officials deny the presence of military forces in Syria to fight against Bashar al-Assad's armed opponents, stating that these individuals have an 'advisory' role.
