Indictment Issued Against Ismail Haniyeh's Sister; Charge: Incitement to Murder

Israeli media reported the issuance of an indictment against Sabah Abdul Salam Haniyeh, sister of Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas's political bureau, on charges of incitement to murder and support for Hamas. Sabah Abdul Salam Haniyeh, 57, a citizen of Israel residing in the Bedouin settlement of 'Tel al-Sabi', is accused of praising, encouraging, and supporting Hamas's terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, during which 1,200 Israeli citizens were massacred and 253 others were kidnapped, in two WhatsApp messages sent to dozens of her contacts, including Ismail Haniyeh himself. On October 18, she sent a message to two WhatsApp groups, one with 116 members and the other with 9 members, instructing them to spread a prayer for the 'destruction of the enemy' among their friends. The text of this prayer asks God to 'scatter them... destroy them and demolish their buildings... bring their end closer and shorten their lives and keep them busy with their corpses... O God, count them and kill them and leave none of them... O God, massacre them and keep us away from their evil.' Sabah Haniyeh is charged with two counts of supporting Hamas and three counts of incitement to murder, which could result in a total of eight years in prison if convicted. The indictment against Sabah Abdul Salam Haniyeh has been submitted to the Beersheba court, and the prosecutor's office has requested the court to issue an order to keep her in custody until the legal proceedings are completed. Israel has more than two million Arab citizens, mostly Muslims, who enjoy equal rights with Jews and actively participate in various political, economic, social, and cultural fields of the country. Following the October 7 terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people and the kidnapping of more than 250 others, Israel launched an assault on Gaza aimed at destroying this Islamist group supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran and recovering the hostages. Hamas officials have repeatedly emphasized that they will carry out such attacks again if they have the capability. Without mentioning the number of its members killed as a result of the Israeli assault on Gaza, Hamas claims that more than 34,000 Palestinians living in Gaza have been killed and about 73,000 others injured. The United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Japan, Israel, and several other countries have listed Hamas as a terrorist organization.
