Israeli Media Claim: Donald Trump Will Take Major Action Against Iran; The Issue is Timing

The Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported, citing senior foreign diplomatic sources, that U.S. President Donald Trump's decision not to launch an immediate military attack on Iran was made after consultations with regional leaders and based on intelligence assessments, but he is now determined to take a major action. According to the newspaper, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, along with at least two other regional leaders, has supported an active approach to overthrow the Islamic Republic regime in the short term and has committed to providing all necessary support to achieve this goal. One source informed Israel Hayom, "A major action by the U.S. is certain; the only issue is timing." He stated that the timing and nature of the action are continuously being reviewed in full cooperation with friendly countries in the region. This source added that the U.S. President is determined to confront a regime that he claims is a serious obstacle to any political and economic progress in the Middle East. The White House has not yet responded to this report. Last week, some U.S. news sources reported that Trump canceled a last-minute decision to attack the Islamic Republic. Some White House reporters, citing informed sources, said that some of his advisors, including Steve Whitecap, opposed the attack. According to these sources, Whitecap received a message from Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, claiming that the Iranian regime had stopped executions at Trump's request. Following the release of these details, Donald Trump welcomed the halt of executions of protesters. In a message that President Trump posted on his Truth Social account on Friday, January 26, he stated, "I greatly respect the fact that all planned executions that were supposed to take place yesterday (more than 800 of them) have been canceled by Iranian leaders. Thank you!" In the past two days, the U.S. President made two separate statements. In an interview with Politico, he stated that the "Ayatollah" is guilty of "completely destroying his country" and that "it is time to look for new leadership in Iran." On Sunday, Donald Trump also shared a link from Fox News on Truth Social, where a guest on the show "Life, Liberty & Levin" hosted by Mark Levin said, "I predict that Trump will go to a free Iran, a free Havana, and a free Caracas before leaving the White House." Meanwhile, The Washington Post reported that Trump is "buying time" for a possible action against the Islamic Republic; an action that could take place in the coming weeks as the U.S. military deployment in the region is completed. The White House spokesperson emphasized that all options, including military action, remain on the table. Reports have also emerged indicating that the United States is transferring additional military equipment to the Middle East. These developments come as Donald Trump has repeatedly warned in recent weeks that if the Islamic Republic continues to massacre protesters, the U.S. will take action. Last Thursday and Friday, the Islamic Republic began an unprecedented wave of repression against protesters, which, according to human rights organizations, left thousands dead. Human rights organizations have so far published the names of over two thousand of the deceased. CBS News estimates the death toll to be between 12,000 and 20,000, while the Sunday Times of London reported, citing doctors, that at least 16,500 Iranian protesters have been killed and about 330,000 others injured.
