Mahan Air Flight Lands Safely with Over 400 Passengers Despite Losing an Engine

The pilot of a Mahan Air passenger plane, carrying over 400 passengers from Tehran to Bandar Abbas, successfully landed the aircraft despite some engine parts detaching. Faramarz Sarvi, the Deputy of Engineering and Maintenance at Aseman Airlines, stated that the Boeing 747 was forced to return and land at Mehrabad Airport two minutes after takeoff due to a technical failure in engine number three. Mr. Sarvi added that the pilot decided to make an emergency landing at Mehrabad Airport after two parts of the engine detached and struck the aircraft's body. The news site Tabnak and social media users have published images showing parts of one of the aircraft's engines falling around Islamshahr. Reports indicate that the pilot's skill in making the emergency landing prevented any injuries to the passengers. Large engine parts from the aircraft fell around Islamshahr. In recent years, Iranian airlines have faced numerous challenges, including the modernization of their fleets, due to international sanctions. Hundreds of Iranians have died in aviation incidents over the years. According to the Vienna nuclear agreement, restrictions on Iranian passenger airlines will be lifted. Meanwhile, the Deputy of Engineering and Maintenance at Aseman Airlines stated that the Boeing 747 is one of the 'good and modern aircraft' available in the country's fleet.
