Shooting by 'Unknown Individuals' at the Residence of a City Council Member in Andimeshk

Media in Iran report that unknown individuals shot at the residence of a member of the Islamic Council of Andimeshk. The news agency Ana reported this on Wednesday (November 22). According to the report, the shooting occurred at midnight on Tuesday at the residence of this council member. The Twitter page 'Andimeshk Javan' also reported the name of this council member as Sajjad Heydari. According to the report, this incident took place at 3:10 AM on Wednesday, and although the assailants fired eight bullets at Heydari's residence with an AK-47, no one was harmed. There has been no news yet on the extent of the financial damages from this shooting. Recently, the office of Fereydoun Hasanwond, a conservative representative and head of the Energy Commission and representative of Andimeshk in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, was also shot at. As a result of this shooting by unknown individuals in a vehicle, one person was injured. Although media reported that the police pursued the assailants, none of them have been arrested yet. Following this incident, the Friday prayer leader of Andimeshk condemned the shooting at the representative's office in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, calling it a 'satanic' act and adding that it is clear the assailants have 'unlawful demands.' Mostafa Hosseini Noori called for a 'decisive' response to these individuals, stating, 'Four of these security disruptors should be tried publicly so that such lawbreaking does not happen again in society.' Andimeshk County is part of Khuzestan Province, and reports of armed conflicts, especially among tribes in this region, are occasionally published in the media. On July 27 of this year, the head of the emergency medical center in Khuzestan reported that 31 people were injured during a conflict and shooting in the 'Cham-Golak' area of Andimeshk. According to Shahyar Mirakhti, this conflict and shooting occurred on the evening of July 27 between members of two tribes in this area, resulting in several of them being hospitalized in Andimeshk and Ahvaz hospitals. In this context, an armed conflict in Andimeshk left one dead and ten injured, while eight political and civil activists from Andimeshk were sentenced to prison and exile.
