Three More Students Imprisoned!

In a report dated February 5, 2004, three students from Tarbiat Moallem University in Sabzevar, named Abdolrahman Naderi, Ghasem Ataei, and Meysam Amani, have been sentenced to six months of imprisonment by Branch 2 of the Sabzevar Judiciary. According to Judge Seyedi, the charges against these three individuals were insulting the Basij and Sepah 247 Salman of Sabzevar. It is noteworthy that the Islamic Association of Tarbiat Moallem University had previously attempted to hold an event featuring a speech by Ahmad Zeid Abadi, but hours before the event, the Provincial Security Council intervened in a questionable manner to prevent it from taking place. Following this action, a protest statement from the association led to complaints being filed against them by institutions affiliated with the leadership. It is reported that these three students must present themselves to Sabzevar prison today at 12:00 as per the court's order. Therefore, the following student organization condemns any acts of pressure and repression against student activists and calls for the cessation of the trial of political activists.
