19 Workers Killed or Injured While Working in Various Cities

Reports from workplace incidents in various cities indicate that at least 19 workers were killed or injured in recent days. According to news agencies, three people died in Hamadan today due to a lack of safety while working. Additionally, a labor source told ILNA that seven workers at a sugar factory in the Moghan Agricultural and Industrial Complex suffered burns while working on Saturday, November 19. ILNA reported that the injured workers from the sugar factory were transferred to Parsabad Hospital. At the same time, another report emerged about molten material overflowing from a furnace at the Zarand Steel Factory, injuring nine workers, with IRNA stating that two were treated on-site and seven were taken to the hospital. ILNA also quoted Mohammad Malamir, the director of the forensic medicine department in Hamadan, stating that a 39-year-old man fell into a machine in one of the production units in Kabudarahang and died instantly. Malamir also reported that another individual in Toyserkan lost his life after falling into a roller used to flatten part of the factory's production. The director of forensic medicine in Hamadan also reported the death of a 59-year-old man in one of the villages of Bahar County due to a fall from a lift during construction work. The Forensic Medicine Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran previously announced that in the year 1402 (2023), 2,115 people lost their lives due to incidents occurring in workplaces. According to this organization, this figure represents an increase of 11.3% compared to the same period last year, with 2,094 male and 21 female fatalities from workplace accidents last year. Unsafe working conditions and physical injuries occur while, according to some experts, workers' wages cover only one-third of their families' monthly needs, forcing many to engage in side jobs.
