TGJU, Bonbast, Alanchand, the official rate — and Artesh
They all read the same Tehran market; the difference is what each puts next to the number. Each source is described as it is, from public record.

| Source | What it is | Strong at | Does not give you |
|---|---|---|---|
| TGJU (شبکه اطلاعرسانی طلا و ارز) tgju.org | Iran's largest rate board: live open-market quotes for currencies, gold, coins, crypto and global markets, with charts and an app. Persian only; quotes are indicative market prices, not an exchange's offer. | Live prices, charts, breadth | Why the price moved; English |
| Bonbast bonbast.com | An English-language page of open-market buy/sell rates for the main currencies and gold coins, updated through the day, with a simple history chart. Widely cited abroad as "the black-market rate". | Simple buy/sell table in English | Context, Persian, charts beyond USD |
| Alanchand (الان چند) alanchand.com | A Persian rate site with live dollar, gold and coin prices and short daily market notes. | Live Persian rates | English; wider news |
| Official and exchange-centre rates cbi.ir / ice.ir | The Central Bank publishes the official rate, and the Iran Centre for Exchange (ICE, مرکز مبادله) a managed rate for approved importers. Neither is available to the public for ordinary purchases. | Official reference | Not what people actually pay |
| Artesh artesh.com | Takes the open-market rate from the same Tehran market board, and puts beside it what moved it: a sourced note on the day's economic news, a one-year chart, the official-vs-open gap, 19 currency and crypto pages with converters, and a daily history table — in English and Persian. | Rate plus the reason, two languages | Not a trading venue; updated daily, not every minute |
Descriptions are of what each site itself publishes (October 2026). Artesh has no connection with any of them.
Questions people ask
What is TGJU?
tgju.org (Tehran Gold and Currency Information Network) is Iran's largest market rate board: live open-market quotes for currencies, gold, coins and crypto, with charts and an app, in Persian. Artesh takes its open-market rial rates from the same Tehran market board and publishes them daily beside the news that moved them, in English and Persian.
What is Bonbast?
bonbast.com is an English-language page of open-market buy and sell rates for the main currencies and gold coins, updated through the day. It is the source most often cited abroad as "the black-market rate". It gives the number, not the reason; for why the rial moved today see Artesh's dollar-to-rial page.
Why do the rial rates differ between sites?
The open market has no single price: buy and sell quotes differ, update times differ, and each site samples different exchange shops. A few tenths of a percent between sites is normal. Differences of several hundred percent are only between the open-market rate and the official or exchange-centre rates, which the public cannot access.
Which rate should I use?
For what a dollar actually costs in Tehran today, any open-market source (TGJU, Bonbast, Artesh) within a fraction of a percent of each other. For contracts and official statistics, the Central Bank rate. For understanding the move, a source that explains it. Today's open-market rate: 2,679,950 rials per dollar (267,995 toman).
Is Artesh a rate site?
No. Artesh is a daily briefing on Iran built from Iranian and international outlets. Rates are one layer of it: the number from the market board, then the sourced note on why it moved, the one-year chart, the official-vs-open gap and the history table. The rates are indicative and are not trading quotes.
