33% Decrease in Iran's Exports to Turkey

The Turkish Statistical Institute reported a $5 billion trade volume between Iran and Turkey in 2023, with a 33% decrease in Iran's exports to Turkey. Meanwhile, Turkey's exports to Iran increased by 7% this year. The report indicates that over $3 billion of the $5 billion trade volume between the two countries was attributed to Turkey's exports to Iran. The decrease in Iran's exports is a topic that the Minister of Economy has recently attempted to cover up through statistical manipulation. Accordingly, on December 27, the Minister of Economy of the Islamic Republic claimed a positive trade balance of $15 billion, but customs reported that the trade balance had reached a negative $12 billion. Iranian media, however, regarded the statistics announced by the Minister of Economy as 'retouched' for 'achievement fabrication,' with the newspaper 'Donya-e-Eqtesad' stating that the continued worsening of Iran's trade balance has led government officials to resort to new methods for presenting statistics.
