46 Students in Mashhad Suffer Food Poisoning

The political and security deputy of the Mashhad governor has stated that 46 students who traveled from Qom to Mashhad suffered food poisoning due to consuming "spoiled food." Reports indicate that 27 of these students were discharged from the hospital on Thursday, July 2. According to ISNA, Abdollah Arjahi, the political and security deputy of the Mashhad governor, stated: "These students came from Qom for pilgrimage to Mashhad, and due to the negligence of officials, their accommodation was arranged in an unauthorized location, and they consumed unhygienic food." He added: "These students consumed expired food and banana milk, but it is still unclear which of these items caused the poisoning." Meanwhile, according to IRNA, Dr. Ehsan Bolourdi, the director of Imam Reza Hospital, also reported that 31 of these students suffered from poisoning. This hospital official further stated that these pilgrims, who were accommodated in one of the Hussainiyahs in Mashhad, were transferred to the emergency department of Imam Reza Hospital early on Thursday, July 2, due to consuming spoiled food. He added: "Thanks to the timely actions and care of the medical and nursing team at this hospital, all patients have now recovered, and 27 of them have been discharged from the hospital." Dr. Ehsan Bolourdi also reported that the general condition of four patients hospitalized in the emergency department is satisfactory, and they will also be discharged today after complete recovery. In June of this year, 23 Saudi pilgrims in Mashhad were poisoned, leading to the death of three of them. In this context, the Minister of Health stated that there is a high likelihood that the poisoning of the Saudi pilgrims was intentional.
