65-Year-Old German Woman Gives Birth to Quadruplets, Becomes Mother of 17 Children

A 65-year-old German woman has become the oldest woman to give birth to quadruplets. Ms. Ingrit Ronik, with these quadruplets, has now become the mother of 17 children. According to CNN, three of Ms. Ronik's newborns are boys and one is a girl. This 65-year-old German mother gave birth to the quadruplets while already having seven grandchildren from her previous children. The quadruplets have been named Nita, Driz, Bens, and Fionn, and were delivered via cesarean section. The German news network RTAL reported that since the babies were born at 26 weeks of the mother's pregnancy, they are being kept in a special unit for premature infants. The quadruplets were born on Thursday, May 31, at a hospital in Berlin. Doctors have stated that despite the premature birth of these infants, they have a "good chance" of survival and that the mother is doing well. The British newspaper Independent also reported that Ms. Ronik's previous 13 children were born from four fathers and are aged between 10 and 44 years. However, this last pregnancy of the 65-year-old German woman was achieved through artificial insemination. Ingrit Ronik stated that her decision to have more children was because her youngest child wanted a sibling who was younger than herself.
