83 Reformists and 60 Independent Candidates Elected to Parliament; Vote Counting Concluded

With the announcement of the results of the parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections in Isfahan, and the publication of the latest official statistics related to the elections in Tehran, the vote counting for the elections held on March 7 has concluded. According to evaluations, so far, 83 reformist candidates, 78 principlist candidates, 60 independent candidates, and five minority candidates have entered the 10th Parliament. An analytical report by ISNA indicates that out of 290 seats in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the results for 226 seats have been determined in the first round, and 128 individuals will compete for the remaining 64 seats in the second round. Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, the Minister of Interior, expressed hope on Tuesday that the second round of parliamentary elections would be held in late Farvardin or early Ordibehesht. The National Election Headquarters published the latest official statistics regarding the parliamentary elections in Tehran in its 99th announcement on Tuesday afternoon. In the published list, the composition of the 30 elected representatives from Tehran has not changed; however, all elected representatives received over one million votes from a total of more than 3 million 240 thousand votes cast. The first elected representative from Tehran remains Mohammad Reza Aref with 1 million 600 thousand votes, and the 30th is Abdolreza Hashemzadeh with 1 million 78 thousand votes. Meanwhile, the governor of Tehran stated that the number of votes in this province increased by 900 votes compared to the 9th parliamentary elections, and only in Tehran, 700 thousand more people voted than in the 9th parliamentary elections. Shortly after the announcement of the latest results from Tehran, the National Election Headquarters issued its 100th announcement, closing the vote counting for the parliamentary elections and the Assembly of Experts. This announcement introduced five elected representatives from Isfahan for the Islamic Consultative Assembly, including Hamid Reza Fooladgar and Ahmad Salek from the principlist list, and Minou Khalighi, Nahed Tajeddin, and Heydar Ali Abadi from the reformist list. According to the announced votes, Hamid Reza Fooladgar is the first elected representative from Isfahan, and Ahmad Salek is the last elected representative from Isfahan. Announcement number 100 from the National Election Headquarters also mentioned Youssef Tabatabai Nejad, Abolhasan Mahdavi, Morteza Moqtadaei, Abdol Nabi Namazi, and Abdol Mahmoud Abdollahi as elected representatives from Isfahan in the Assembly of Experts elections. In Tehran, the victory of the 'Hope List,' supported by reformists and government supporters, led to the removal of several prominent principlist figures from the parliament, including Hassan Abutorabi, the first deputy speaker of the parliament. Meanwhile, a report from Khabar Online on Saturday stated that out of the current 12 members of the parliament's board of directors, only five have entered the 10th parliament in the first round, and two others will have to compete in the second round for entry. Apart from Mohammad Hassan Abutorabi, the deputy speaker of the parliament, who failed to be among the 30 elected representatives from Tehran, Mohammad Reza Bahonar, another deputy speaker, did not participate in the 10th parliamentary elections from the beginning. Ali Larijani, the current speaker of the parliament, participated in the elections from Qom with joint support from reformists and the Society of Teachers and was elected as the second representative from this city. In this context, the participation rate in the elections was reported as '62 percent'; the 'Hope List' emerged victorious. The Supreme Council of Reformists urged the public to wait for the 'final victory celebration.' The latest results from Tehran show that the 30-member Hope List remains at the top. The final result in Tehran indicates that Yazdi and Mesbah will not go to the Assembly of Experts. Their names are not on the 16-member list for the Assembly of Experts in Tehran. The results of the votes until Sunday morning show '72 reformists and independents, 28 principlists.' The Hope List has seized 29 seats in Tehran; Aref and Motahari are at the top.
