Sony, which has fallen significantly behind other companies in the mobile phone market, aims to return to the forefront of the best mobile phone manufacturers with the introduction of the Xperia XZ Premium at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Sony is the first company to use the most powerful mobile processor, the Snapdragon 835, in its products. The Xperia XZ Premium features a 5.5-inch 4K display, 64GB of internal memory, and a 19-megapixel main camera. The display also supports HDR content. The Xperia XZ Premium is set to launch in April at a price of $800, initially in the United States. One of the interesting features of this phone is its ability to capture images at 960 frames per second in HD. The standard frame rate is 24 frames per second, meaning this phone can slow down images by up to 40 times. The main camera is 19 megapixels and, alongside its 4K video recording capability, has a larger sensor than most mobile phones, reducing noise in images and improving low-light performance. The selfie camera is also 13 megapixels. Image processing in this phone is five times faster than the previous version. Both cameras feature dual aperture and have a steady shot feature that eliminates any shaking during video recording. This device is the first smartphone equipped with a 5.5-inch HDR 4K display, utilizing Sony's Bravia television technology. In collaboration with Amazon, Sony has enabled Xperia XZ Premium smartphone owners to watch HDR-compatible content. Sony has attempted to implement its strengths in both camera and television technology in this phone. The device runs on Android 7. The Xperia XZ Premium is categorized as a phablet in terms of size; however, based on modern standards where bezels are decreasing, it is slightly large and difficult to operate with one hand. One criticism some have made about this phone is its glossy body, which will become covered in fingerprints with minimal use. At the bottom edge of this smartphone, like many phones from 2017, a USB-C port is used. In terms of battery, this phone is considered average among flagship devices. The new Sony phone is powered by a 3230 mAh battery. Weighing 195 grams, it is a main competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S8. However, the presence of several new products, including flagship models from Nokia and OnePlus 5, will likely pose challenges for Sony's new phone in the market.
