A Day Before the Impeachment of the Minister of Industry, the 'Whistleblower' Representative Summoned by the Prosecutor's Office

The impeachment of the Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade (known as 'Samt') will take place on Sunday, amidst ongoing controversies that peaked with the claim of 'gifting 75 SUVs' during a previous impeachment attempt. In the latest development, Ahmad Alireza Beigi, the representative who made the 'SUVs' claim, announced that he has been summoned to the Prosecutor's Office and will go there this morning to respond. This summons comes a few days after Reza Fatemi Amin, the Minister of Samt, requested the Prosecutor General's involvement in the 'SUVs' issue, claiming that raising this matter has harmed 'public trust and social capital' in the country. Ahmad Alireza Beigi, a member of the Iranian Parliament, previously stated in the open session of Parliament that during the previous unsuccessful impeachment of the Minister, the Ministry of Samt distributed '75 SUV vouchers' among representatives to sway their opinions, which allegedly changed the votes of some representatives, resulting in the impeachment failing. Alireza Beigi, who has reiterated his stance despite denials and refutations, confirmed the news of his summons to the Prosecutor's Office and the 'Supervisory Board on Representative Conduct'. Following this claim, government officials denied and refuted the matter. The accusing representatives insisted on their statements until May 6, when Reza Fatemi Amin called for the 'Prosecutor General' to intervene in the matter. This cabinet member of Ebrahim Raisi has faced significant criticism regarding his performance in recent weeks, and a renewed impeachment motion against him has been initiated, which, according to Parliament, will take place on Sunday (tomorrow). In his letter to the Prosecutor, which led to Ahmad Alireza Beigi's summons, he claimed that news regarding the vehicle handover has harmed 'public trust and social capital' in the country. In this context, the Kayhan newspaper also called for 'action' against the 'whistleblower representative' and demanded accountability from 'the individual claiming this lie'. This newspaper, which is overseen by a representative of Ali Khamenei, also called for the prosecution of a 'network' that, according to the newspaper, 'prepares this type of psychological operation' and distributes its content. The impeachment of the Minister of Samt in Ebrahim Raisi's government will commence on Sunday, while another member of the Parliament, Mousavi Nasir Largani, tweeted on Saturday morning: 'Just like last November, the deputies and managers of the ministry are sent on special missions to the provinces to lobby.'
