A Group of Opposition Activists Protest in London in Support of Mojahid Korkor and Reza Rasayi

A group of opposition activists in the UK has begun a week-long sit-in in Trafalgar Square, London, in support of Mojahid Korkor and Reza Rasayi, two political prisoners sentenced to death. This sit-in started on Friday, January 5. Parinaz Parto, one of the protesters, told Voice of America that 'the Iranian government aims to intimidate Iranians by launching a new wave of executions, imprisonment, and torture,' mentioning Mojahid Korkor and Reza Rasayi, who are on the death row list. She stated that the Iranian government arrested Mojahid Korkor for the murder of Kian Pirfalak, while Kian's parents have declared that Mojahid Korkor is not their child's killer and that government forces killed him. Parinaz Parto also named other prisoners, including Reza Rasayi, Mohsen Mazloom, Mohammad Faramarzi, Vafa Azarbar, and Pejman Fatehi, adding that many other Kurdish, Arab, Azerbaijani, and Baluch prisoners are also incarcerated in Iranian prisons. She further noted that the government showcases its power through executions whenever it wants to subdue the people, especially as workers are on strike and protesting, retirees are demonstrating for their rights, and thousands of women confront morality police daily for a normal and humane life. According to Parinaz Parto, 'No to Execution' activists believe that a humane life in a political open space, free from religious tyranny, is the right of all Iranian citizens, and expecting equal rights is a reasonable and logical expectation. Activists and human rights organizations have warned about the execution of Reza Rasayi and Mojahid Korkor. Several labor and professional organizations stated that the government seeks to push people back through executions and repression. Zartosht Ahmadiraghab's message from prison indicated that the government will sink into 'the quagmire it has created.' The Islamic Republic began the New Year with executions, while human rights organizations reported a high number of executions last year. The file of another protester has been sent for 'execution orders'; Mojahid Korkor is 'at risk of execution.' Warnings have been issued about the 'imminent execution' of a protester; Reza Rasayi's file has been sent for 'execution orders.' A gathering was held in support of Mojahid Korkor and Reza Rasayi in front of the Islamic Republic's embassy in Berlin.
