A Human Rights Organization Reports Assault on Mojahid Korkor in Shiban Prison, Ahvaz

The human rights organization "Hangaw" reported on Wednesday, January 6, based on what it called received reports, that Mojahid Korkor, the accused in the murder case of "Kian Pirfalak," whose death sentence was recently confirmed by the Supreme Court, was assaulted by a prison guard during yard time at Shiban Prison in Ahvaz. According to Hangaw, this incident occurred on Tuesday, January 5, but there is no precise information regarding Mojahid Korkor's health status after being transferred back to his cell. The report states that the reason for the assault was a dispute between Mojahid and the guard over his innocence. Mojahid Korkor's death sentence, issued by the Revolutionary Court of Ahvaz in April of this year, was confirmed on Sunday, January 3, by Branch 39 of the Supreme Court and officially communicated to his family. Negar Korkor, Mojahid Korkor's sister, announced on her personal Instagram page that her brother's death sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic and that the case has been referred from the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Ahvaz to the court in Izeh. While the judiciary, officials, and government media have attempted over the past year to attribute the murder of Kian Pirfalak to Mojahid Korkor, Mahmonir Molaei Rad, Kian Pirfalak's mother, stated at her son's funeral that it was "government agents" who shot their vehicle while passing through the street, causing Kian's death and severe injuries to his father. She later emphasized, "As Kian's mother, I will never accept anyone from my fellow citizens being introduced as the murderer." Previously, the judiciary of the Islamic Republic attributed the killing of seven citizens from Izeh on November 16, 2022, to citizens including Abbas Korkor, Bahman Bahmani, Hossein Saidi, and Mahmoud Ahmadi. Last January, the public prosecutor and revolutionary prosecutor of Izeh announced that legal cases had been filed against 70 protesting citizens in relation to public gatherings in this city. According to human rights organizations, Mojahid Korkor, who is currently in Shiban Prison in Ahvaz, has previously been tortured to obtain forced confessions and has been deprived of his basic rights, including in-person visits. Mojahid Korkor was injured and subsequently arrested on December 20, 2022, after an armed attack by the IRGC forces on the village of "Porsurakh" in the Izeh region.
