A Human Rights Organization: Reza Mohammadi was 'beaten' by three officials of Evin Prison

News sources in Iran reported that Reza Mohammadi, a political prisoner in Evin, was beaten on Thursday, November 2, by 'three prison officials.' According to the Human Rights Activists in Iran, Reza Mohammadi, who remains 'in limbo' in Evin after six months of detention, suffered injuries 'to his chest and ribs' following the 'beating' by 'prison officials.' On Wednesday, an informed source told VOA that the hearing for this constitutional political prisoner's case was postponed to Saturday, November 4, due to his refusal to wear prison clothes for court. Additionally, some unofficial sources reported that this political prisoner was 'beaten and threatened with death' by several ordinary prisoners. In recent weeks, Reza Mohammadi's father passed away while prison officials prevented him from attending the funeral. Reza Mohammadi, who was released from Rajai Shahr prison in Alborz province in Bahman 1401 (January 2023), was re-arrested on May 11 by IRGC intelligence agents and transferred to the IRGC's detention center. According to a previous report to VOA on September 3, a new case was also opened against Reza Mohammadi, with a complaint from the 'General Directorate of Prisons of Tehran Province' on charges of 'disturbing public order and tranquility' and 'spreading falsehoods.' Documentation provided to VOA's Persian section indicated that this case was in the third investigative branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in District 33 (Evin).
