A Member of Parliament Reports on the Three-Month Uncertainty of Preschool Teachers

A member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly has reported on the three-month uncertainty faced by preschool teachers and has called for the Minister of Education of the Islamic Republic to clarify their status. Reza Hajipour, a member of the Education and Research Commission of the Parliament, told the ILNA news agency that he has asked the Minister of Education to specify the status of 'contract preschool teachers' as these educators 'have not known who their contractor is for three months.' He added that 'a number' of preschool teachers have come to his office stating that they have been working for three months 'but our contractual status is still unclear,' meaning that it is not known who should come to pay their salaries. In recent years, teachers, education staff, and preschool educators have repeatedly protested, gone on strike, or gathered due to their poor contractual and salary conditions. This member of the Education and Research Commission has urged the Minister of Education to 'quickly' clarify the contracts of preschool teachers and pay their salaries. One of the main demands of teachers and preschool educators in protests across various cities in Iran in recent years has been to clarify their employment status and integration into the country's educational structure. The lack of a clear work contract has exposed these teachers and educators to risks such as delayed salaries, uncertainty about their future employment, unclear retirement status, and job insecurity.
