A member of the Quds Force killed in an attack attributed to Israel in Aleppo

Iranian state media reports that Saeed Abyar, a member of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed on Sunday night in Aleppo, Syria. The Student News Agency confirmed the death of this 'military advisor of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' in an attack by 'Israeli fighter jets'. In the official rhetoric of the Islamic Republic, the term 'military advisor' refers to members of the Quds Force who engage in military activities outside of Iran, including in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. The Islamic Republic has not yet reacted to the death of this Quds Force member. Over the past years, Israel has repeatedly targeted positions of the Quds Force and affiliated groups of the Islamic Republic in Syria, but has rarely commented on these attacks. Following the terrorist attack on October 7, Israeli attacks against the positions of the Islamic Republic and its affiliated groups in the region have intensified and become more frequent. In one of the deadliest of these attacks, on April 2 of this year, the Islamic Republic's consulate in Damascus was targeted, resulting in the deaths of several high-ranking IRGC members, including Mohammad Reza Zahedi, commander of the Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon, Major General Hossein Aminollah, chief of staff of the Quds Force, and Lieutenant General Haj Rahimi, 'a close friend and deputy of Zahedi'. In an unprecedented move in response to this deadly attack, on April 14, the Islamic Republic fired over 300 ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and suicide drones towards Israel, most of which were intercepted by a coalition of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Jordan, and Israel before entering Israeli airspace.
