A Newspaper's Account of Iranian Migrants; We Are Witnessing Irreversible Migration

A Tehran-based newspaper has reported on the issue of migration, comparing it with other countries, including Turkey, stating that what is concerning about Iranian migration is the low rate of return. The newspaper 'Donya-e-Eqtesad' in its issue today, Tuesday, March 13, has written that the most important factor for migration is inflation and economic sanctions. The report emphasizes that currently, the rate of return of Iranians to the country after five years of migration is 16%, while this rate for Turkish migrants returning to Turkey is 40%. The report also cites experts who add that factors such as economic sanctions and a bleak outlook for economic growth in Iran have led to an increase in migration as well as a decrease in the willingness of migrants to return to their home country. In such circumstances, Morteza Izadi, a university professor and economic expert, stated in an interview with the 'Khabar Online' website that the Iranian economy is facing serious crises and migration in any form can exacerbate this crisis, with consequences soon to emerge in society and the economy. The newspaper 'Ham-Mihan' also reported on January 8 that the head of the Strategic Studies Center of the Presidency stated that people 'migrate to not be in Iran,' and this bitter reality is not expressed by a single expert or researcher but is based on studies conducted by the Islamic Republic government. The 'Ham-Mihan' newspaper considers this governmental statement a truth and a serious warning that 'must be addressed; otherwise, in the not-too-distant future, the country will face a crisis of skilled workers and even human resources.'
