A Senior Hezbollah Member Killed in Israeli Airstrike in Beirut

A source close to Hezbollah Lebanon announced that Ibrahim Aqil, commander of the Radwan unit and member of Hezbollah's Jihad Council, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Friday in the southern suburbs of Beirut. Earlier, Reuters and Israeli media reported that Israel targeted Ibrahim Aqil with an airstrike in southern Beirut. The Israeli army confirmed the execution of a 'targeted attack' in Beirut. Reuters, citing security sources in Lebanon, reported that the attack occurred near important Hezbollah facilities. This senior Hezbollah member has been on the U.S. wanted list due to his involvement in the bombing of the U.S. Marines headquarters in Beirut on October 23, 1983, and managing the hostage-taking of Americans and Germans in Lebanon during the 1980s. Ibrahim Aqil is the second-highest military figure in Hezbollah after Fouad Shukr, who was also killed in an Israeli attack on July 30 of this year. The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported at least eight deaths and over 50 injuries due to the Israeli attack on the outskirts of Beirut. Hezbollah's Al-Manar television reported that the Israeli airstrikes in Beirut left one dead and 14 injured.
