A Teachers' Union Organization: We Have Not Issued a Statement for Teachers, Students, and Their Guardians to Participate in Elections

The Coordination Council of Teachers' Trade Unions of Iran announced in a statement on Thursday, June 14, that considering the fact that the interests of teachers and students have never been a priority for any government in the Islamic Republic, the council has not issued a statement regarding the participation or non-participation of teachers, students, and their guardians in the elections. The statement was released after this national teachers' organization reported that the information and public relations center of the Ministry of Education published a 'fake article with the title of statement number one' from this council concerning 'elections,' calling on teachers, students, and their families to participate in the elections. In the statement from the Coordination Council of Teachers' Trade Unions of Iran, it is noted that this forgery occurred on Tuesday, June 11, stating: 'The extensive Ministry of Education and its affiliated organizations, with the expenditure of significant public and hidden advertising budgets, aided by the state media and the establishment of yellow organizations attributed to teachers, have failed to gain even a little credibility and trust in the shadow of a security and repressive atmosphere. Therefore, in sensitive situations such as elections, they have resorted to forging the title of the Coordination Council of Teachers' Trade Unions to legitimize the elections.' The council emphasized in its statement that it bears no responsibility for the statement published on the Ministry of Education's website. The Ministry of Education undertook this action to promote the presidential elections while teachers, activists, and their trade unions have faced severe security and judicial pressures from the Islamic Republic in recent years.
