A Valuable Collection of Freddie Mercury's Artworks and Personal Items to Be Auctioned

A collection of artworks and personal items belonging to the late Freddie Mercury, the singer of the band "Queen," will be auctioned in September this year by his close friend. According to the Associated Press, this exquisite collection includes clothing, personal belongings, artworks, and handwritten lyrics of some of Queen's famous songs. Freddie Mercury, who had a great passion for collecting art, entrusted his art collection and personal items to his close friend Mary Austin before his death. This renowned British singer, of Indian Parsi descent, passed away at the age of 45 in 1991 due to pneumonia related to AIDS. Mary Austin, who has preserved nearly all of these artworks as Freddie Mercury left them in his luxurious home in Kensington, London, described the sale of this collection as "a difficult decision." The collection includes some original or printed designs by Picasso and Matisse, as well as a painting by James Tissot, a 19th-century French artist, which is expected to sell for between $500,000 and $750,000. The handwritten lyrics of "We Are the Champions," one of Queen's most popular songs, will also be one of the valuable items at this auction. Freddie Mercury wrote these lyrics on 9 pages and they are expected to sell for between $250,000 and $375,000. Another item is a replica crown that Freddie Mercury wore during Queen's last concert in 1986. This replica of the St. Edward's Crown, which Freddie Mercury wore during his final concert, is inspired by the actual crown that will be used in the coronation of Charles III next month. However, unlike the British royal crown, Freddie Mercury's crown is a replica and is valued between $75,000 and $100,000. This auction includes 1,500 items, and Freddie Mercury's fans with average budgets will also be able to purchase some of his cheaper personal belongings. Some items will be displayed during an art tour in June in New York, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong. The auction will take place in September, and part of the proceeds will be donated to charity.
