Abulfazl Ghadiani After Harsh Criticism of Ali Khamenei: I Am Going to Prison

Abulfazl Ghadiani, a political activist opposing Ali Khamenei, stated in a note that on Saturday, July 22, he will go to the execution branch of the Tehran Revolutionary Court to prepare for imprisonment. This political activist, who has recently targeted the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic in his sharp critical writings, wrote in a note published on the 'Kalemeh' website on Saturday, July 15: 'As I have repeatedly announced, despite all the illnesses I have, I welcome prison because I am eager to be alongside my dear brothers and friends, who, as before, stand against tyranny, especially the religious tyranny that is the worst kind of tyranny in the world as it combines wealth, power, and deception, and its complete symbol today is the power-hungry tyrant of Iran, Ali Khamenei.' Mr. Ghadiani added: 'I consider political prisoners in prison as evidence of the condemnation of the religious tyranny and the autocratic Ali Khamenei of today’s Iran, whose enmity with the Iranian people has been proven to all.' This political activist referred to the charges against him as 'propaganda against the Islamic Republic,' which was communicated to him via a summons on Saturday, July 8, 2023, by Branch 1 of the Criminal Execution Court of the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office of District 28 of Tehran (crimes of government employees) with a ten-day deadline. Mr. Ghadiani had reported two weeks earlier about receiving a notification and a summons on Thursday, June 29, and stated that based on this notification, he was sentenced to 10 months in prison for propaganda against the regime. He clarified that he considers the courts and revolutionary prosecutors and their issued verdicts based on Articles 156, 172, and 173 to be illegal, but he will be present for the execution of the 'illegal verdict.' He described the judiciary in the Islamic Republic as a dependent, illegal institution under the command and control of 'the power-hungry tyrant of today’s Iran, Ali Khamenei,' and wrote: 'Only with the removal of Ali Khamenei, the power-hungry autocrat of the repressive Islamic Republic, can an independent judiciary, which is one of the main pillars of establishing democracy and executing justice, be created, and I hope this important matter does not take long.'
