According to a lawyer; Judge of the court that sentenced Afsaneh Bayegan 'dismissed'

A senior lawyer reported the 'dismissal' of the judge who sentenced actress Afsaneh Bayegan to see a psychologist due to her not wearing a hijab. Shima Qosheh wrote in a message on the social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter): 'According to what I heard, Judge Ali Omidi, the presiding judge of Branch 1088 of the Tehran Guidance Court, whose strange and sometimes illegal rulings had raised concerns even to the head of the judiciary, has been dismissed from his position.' As of the time of this report, official authorities of the judiciary have not confirmed this news. Afsaneh Bayegan was sentenced on Wednesday, July 19, in Tehran's Criminal Court 2 to 'two years of imprisonment' for using a hat instead of the mandatory hijab. Branch 1088 of the Tehran Criminal Court 2 also imposed other penalties, including 'weekly visits to a psychology center and obtaining a health certificate,' 'a two-year travel ban,' 'reading a book and summarizing its handwritten notes within two months,' and 'a two-year prohibition on direct or indirect use of social media.' A few days before this ruling, Afsaneh Bayegan, who had been supporting protesters by sharing images without the mandatory hijab since last year during the peak of nationwide protests, announced her withdrawal from the 'disrespectful realm of acting' in a post on her Instagram page. Earlier this year, while wearing a hat, she attended the play 'Cafe Eshgh' and was accused of 'acts against public decency and morality' based on Article 640 of the Islamic Penal Code and according to the indictment issued against her. Afsaneh Bayegan also attended a ceremony honoring veteran director and actor Attila Pessiani without a hijab in May, which generated significant reactions on social media. She wore earrings with the symbol of the lion and sun, which attracted attention from social media users.
