Activists of the 'Nationwide Campaign Against Executions in Iran' Stage Sit-in at Trafalgar Square, London

A group of activists from the 'Nationwide Campaign Against Executions in Iran - London Branch' began their fourth round of sit-ins on Saturday, January 27, in Trafalgar Square, the capital of Britain. This comes as one member of the campaign told Voice of America that the sit-in was met with an attack by several individuals who tore up images of those executed and also images of four Kurdish political prisoners sentenced to death. Parinaz Parto expressed regret to Voice of America, stating that 'the youths who were hanged in the recent movement were the human capital of Iran, who were deprived of their right to life and breath in medieval conditions.' She added, 'These executions can cause social, psychological, and emotional harm to the survivors for centuries.' Ms. Parto referred to the slogan 'No to executions forever and for no human being' during the sit-in of the activists of the 'Nationwide Campaign Against Executions in Iran' in London, noting that the Iranian regime has always executed individuals for non-political crimes over the years, although these crimes were confirmed in courts by judges whose performance has always been questioned by the Iranian public.' She also stated, 'The Nationwide Campaign Against Executions in Iran invites all freedom-loving, rights-seeking, and equality-seeking individuals, wherever they are in the world, to be the voice of the people who have been executed in unjust courts over the past four decades.' Activists in international solidarity against executions in Iran believe that 'executions must be abolished once and for all and should never happen to any human being.' The wife of Pejman Fatehi, a Kurdish political prisoner sentenced to death, called for support from the people and the international community. The presence of families of political prisoners executed in the 1980s in Khavaran, Mehran Bahramian and Fazel Bahramian, was noted, as well as the condemnation to death of protesters arrested in Semirum.
