Advisor to IRGC Commander Claims 111 Codes Indicating US and UK Interference in 2009 Protests

Hamidreza Moghadamfar, advisor to the Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated at a conference titled 'Examining the Role of the British Government in the 2009 Sedition' held on Tuesday, January 9, that he possesses 111 codes indicating direct interference by the US and the UK in what he refers to as the '2009 Sedition.' One of the codes mentioned by Moghadamfar involves the establishment of a central hub within the BBC network to direct radio networks, including 'Radio Farda.' He claims to have substantial evidence showing that various research centers in the US have sought to implement a velvet revolution in Iran. He also names the UK as another country aiming to overthrow the Islamic Republic of Iran. In a detailed text provided to the Tasnim news agency, Moghadamfar emphasizes the role of the US in what he describes as an overthrow. He mentions at least seven institutions, including the George Soros Foundation, the National Endowment for Democracy, and the Brookings, Hivos, Hoover, and Memory institutions, which he claims have been involved with reformist political activists, civil society organizations, and journalists to create a 'velvet revolution' in Iran. Regarding the UK’s role in the events following the 2009 elections, Moghadamfar cites the British Embassy and the BBC, asserting that the UK directed and guided radio networks like Radio Farda and the Persian sections of France International Radio and Deutsche Welle, as well as some Persian-language websites outside Iran. Niyusha Baghrati, editor of Radio Farda, commented on the advisor's claims regarding the connection between Radio Farda and the BBC. Mohammadreza Naqdi, head of the Basij Organization, also spoke at the conference, stating that the UK revealed the Persian BBC as a trump card, whose main employees are journalists from former President Mohammad Khatami's administration. Morteza Kazemian discussed the allegations made by the IRGC advisor and the head of the Basij regarding US and UK interference in the protests against the 2009 election results. In addition to the conference examining the UK's role in the post-election protests of 2009 in Tehran, the Basij Organization has produced a documentary titled 'The Hands of the Old Fox in the Sedition,' which implicates the BBC and the British Embassy in the events of 2009. 'Sedition' is a term used by supporters of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic to refer to the protests against the results of the 2009 presidential election.
