Following this appointment, Rasool Jalili, the former president of the university, was dismissed, and analysts believe that this dismissal is a continuation of the controversies surrounding the graduation ceremony of students at the Sharif University campus in Kish, where female students had optional hijab. According to reports, after the controversies that arose during the graduation ceremony at the Kish campus of Sharif University, the head of the campus resigned under threats from the Ministry of Intelligence. The graduation ceremony at the international campus of Sharif University in Kish was held with female graduates having optional hijab, after which the Minister of Science of the Islamic Republic immediately issued an order for investigation and action. Amir Kabir Newsletter also reported on the resignation of the campus president following threats from the Ministry of Intelligence. The public relations office of Sharif University also issued a statement reacting to the controversies of this ceremony. Although this statement emphasized that "those responsible will be dealt with," it apparently did not prevent the dismissal of the president of Sharif University. The graduation ceremony at the Kish campus and the presence of a large number of female students with optional attire led to the resignation of the campus president; Sharif University promised to take action.
