Ali Bagheri Kani, the head of the Islamic Republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, the Foreign Minister of Bahrain, met and discussed in Tehran. Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran resumed their diplomatic relations in 2023 with China's mediation. During Donald Trump's presidency in the U.S., Bahrain signed the 'Abraham Accords' with Israel and established close diplomatic relations with Israel. Islamic Republic officials, including commanders of the Revolutionary Guards, had repeatedly threatened Bahrain afterward. In a joint statement released between the Bahraini Foreign Minister and Bagheri Kani, Bahrain is referred to as a 'kingdom' with which the Islamic Republic of Iran has 'historical' and 'brotherly' relations.
