Aida Shakeri, sister of Nika and another daughter of Nasrin Shakeri, wrote in a social media message on Saturday, October 28, two days after announcing her mother's disappearance: "My mother is in the temporary detention center of the Ministry of Intelligence in Khorramabad prison." Aida Shakeri reported her mother's arrest in Khorramabad on Wednesday, October 25, but stated that the reason for her arrest and the charges against her are unclear. Nasrin Shakeri's Instagram page has also been inaccessible since Wednesday, October 25, and all posts on it have been deleted. Over the past two years, the Islamic Republic has increased pressure on opponents, especially the families of seekers of justice, arresting and imprisoning many of them, and in some cases forcing them to close their social media pages or refrain from continuing their activities. Prince Reza Pahlavi reacted to the arrest of Nasrin Shakeri, Nika Shakeri's mother, on Saturday, October 28, calling this action a clear sign of the regime's weakness and fear of women, mothers, and justice-seeking Iranians. He demanded her immediate and unconditional release. In a post on social media platform X, he emphasized: The regime is trying to silence Nasrin Shakeri's voice of justice-seeking, but the flame of national awareness cannot be extinguished. Prince Reza Pahlavi also wrote: "Lady Nasrin, who raised the brave Nika of Iran, stood like a free cypress against the regime after the murder of her child and exposed the lies of the anti-national state television." Nika Shakeri was a 16-year-old Iranian protester who was allegedly raped by government agents and killed during the nationwide protests in the fall of 2022. At that time, state media attempted to portray Nika Shakeri's death as a suicide, but the BBC reported this spring that it had obtained documents proving that Nika Shakeri was kidnapped by three members of the IRGC, raped, and ultimately killed. Following the prevention of the Mahsa ceremony, the Islamic Republic also prevented the holding of the Nika Shakeri ceremony.
