Aida Younesi: My Father Has Lost Hearing in One Ear in Evin Prison

Aida Younesi, the daughter of Myrious Younesi, states that a year after her father's arrest, he remains in pre-trial detention in Evin Prison without a conviction. She wrote on social media platform 'X' that her father, imprisoned on charges of collaborating with the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization, has completely lost hearing in one ear and has become hard of hearing in the other. According to Ms. Younesi, the prison doctor stated that treatment is not possible in prison, and although 'in recent weeks they promised several times' to take Myrious Younesi 'to a specialist doctor, my mother has made appointments each time, but they canceled the transfer at the last minute, which is part of the Ministry of Intelligence's game to harass my father.' Nevertheless, Ms. Younesi wrote that 'in recent days, a lawyer has gained access to the case.' Reza Younesi, the son of Yousof Younesi, also expressed severe concern about his father's health in a tweet last year, stating: 'My father's physical condition has worsened in solitary confinement; during our weekly phone call, he said he has been experiencing nausea and diarrhea, and due to the low-quality and insufficient food, he has lost a lot of weight. They give him yogurt for his stomach issues, but every time he eats yogurt, he experiences hallucinations.' Reza Younesi added: '43 days have passed since Myrious Younesi's arrest, and he has been in absolute solitary confinement since the beginning, first in solitary 209 and then in solitary 240 of Evin.' According to him, Mr. Younesi has no right to meet with family and is in solitary confinement without permission to speak with a lawyer or anyone else, and the only words he hears are insults and threats under the unbearable pressure of interrogators. Yousof Younesi is the father of Ali Younesi, 'a computer engineering student at Sharif University and a gold medalist in the astronomy Olympiad in 2017,' who was arrested in 2020 and sentenced to 16 years in prison after months of solitary confinement. Ali Younesi has also been accused in court of connections with the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization, a charge that his family has called 'ridiculous.' The Iranian Ministry of Intelligence claimed on January 1, 2023, after Myrious Younesi's arrest, that it had identified 'the largest financial and equipment supply network for the operational teams' of the Mojahedin-e Khalq in Iran and arrested some key individuals of this network.
