Aircraft Carrier 'USS Abraham Lincoln' Arrives in the Middle East with F-35C and F/A-18 Fighters

The aircraft carrier 'USS Abraham Lincoln', equipped with F-35C fighters and supersonic F/A-18 fighters, has entered the area of responsibility of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM). CENTCOM stated on social media platform 'X' that this aircraft carrier is accompanied by the destroyer Squadron 21 and Naval Air Unit 9. Following the terrorist attack on October 7 last year by Hamas against Israel, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and over 250 hostages, Israel launched an assault on Gaza aimed at destroying this group supported by the Islamic Republic and freeing the hostages. This attack received support and encouragement from Iranian officials. Additionally, Hezbollah Lebanon, another group backed by the Islamic Republic, began sporadic rocket and drone attacks on northern Israel. The continuation of these cross-border attacks by Hezbollah has resulted in the deaths of over 400 members of this group, including some of its senior commanders, due to retaliatory strikes by Israel. Tensions from these conflicts have increased significantly since August 6, following a deadly rocket attack by Hezbollah on northern Israel that killed 12 children and teenagers. In response to this deadly attack, Israel targeted Fawad Shukr, the highest-ranking military commander of Hezbollah, in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, on August 9. Just hours later, in the early hours of August 10, Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, was targeted in a deadly attack in Tehran, which the Islamic Republic has attributed to Israel despite its 'neither confirm nor deny' position. The Islamic Republic and Hezbollah have warned that they will not leave these deadly attacks unanswered. In contrast, Israeli officials have promised that anyone who attacks the country will pay a heavy price. Meanwhile, the U.S. and its allies, while intensifying their diplomatic efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza and prevent the escalation of conflicts into a full-scale regional war, have warned the Iranian government and its proxies, including Hezbollah, that they will support Israel against the Islamic Republic and its terrorist proxy groups. The Israeli army attacked Hezbollah positions in 10 areas in southern Lebanon. The Israeli Foreign Minister stated that the international community should declare the IRGC as the largest terrorist organization in the world. Israeli military operations in Lebanon resulted in the death of Khalil al-Maqdah, a commander of the military branch of 'Fatah'. Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon left three dead; Hezbollah responded with rocket and drone fire. The IRGC commented on a potential attack on Israel: the waiting period for the Islamic Republic's response may be prolonged. Airstrikes targeted Hezbollah's weapon depots in northeastern Lebanon; the Israeli army confirmed this.
