Airstrike on Médecins Sans Frontières Hospital in Yemen Leaves '11 Dead'

Hospital and local sources in Yemen report that at least 11 people have been killed in an airstrike on a hospital supported by Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders). This hospital is located in the Hajjah province in northern Yemen. According to Reuters, local sources and Médecins Sans Frontières indicate that the emergency department of the Abs hospital was completely destroyed, resulting in 11 fatalities and 20 injuries. Ibrahim Aram, the head of the Abs hospital, stated that at least three Yemeni members of Médecins Sans Frontières are among the deceased. He added that three other foreign members of Médecins Sans Frontières were injured, with three others having lost their legs. The hospital was attacked on Monday, following an airstrike by the Saudi-led coalition on a school and a residential area in northern Yemen on Sunday, which left at least 19 dead. The report states that the Saudi-led coalition has intensified its attacks on Houthi militia positions following the failure of peace negotiations in Yemen. Meanwhile, Médecins Sans Frontières announced in a statement that the location of the hospital had been communicated to all parties involved, including the Saudi-led coalition. The statement confirmed that 11 people, including one member of Médecins Sans Frontières, were killed in the bombing. Médecins Sans Frontières claims that in the past 12 months, their facilities have been attacked at least four times. According to Reuters, a spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition has declined to comment on the matter. Meanwhile, Farhan Haq, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, stated that the UN is collecting documents and evidence regarding the incident. At least 6,500 people have died since the onset of airstrikes in Yemen, with about half of them being civilians.
