Alan Delon, French Cinema Star, Passes Away at 88

Alan Delon, the star of French cinema in the 1960s and 70s and actor of the film 'The Samurai,' passed away early Sunday at the age of 88 due to illness and old age. According to a statement from his three children released on Sunday, August 19, he died at his home in Douchy, France. Delon had acted in fewer films over the past 30 years, with one of his last appearances being at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019, where he received an honorary Palme d'Or for his lifetime artistic achievements. Alan Delon was born in November 1935 in the suburbs of Paris, and due to his good looks and roles in some of the most famous cinematic works, he is considered one of the most renowned actors of the 20th century. This cinema star, who was more recognized in Iran by the voice of Khosro Khosroshahi, had previously expressed his interest and readiness to 'leave this world' in 2018. He stated in an interview with a French publication that he would 'leave this world without any regrets' as everything is 'fake and only money matters.' Delon collaborated with some of the most famous directors in cinema history, including Luchino Visconti, Jean-Luc Godard, Jean-Pierre Melville, Michelangelo Antonioni, and Louis Malle. He won the César Award in 1985 and the Legion of Honor of France in 1991. Among his famous films are 'Rocco and His Brothers,' 'The Eclipse,' 'The Red Circle,' 'The Leopard,' 'The Swimming Pool,' and 'Police.' Alan Delon once said, 'I was programmed for success, not happiness. These two do not go together.'
