Ali Larijani's Warning to the U.S. Regarding the Implementation of the JCPOA

As the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported the fragility of the nuclear agreement, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament has blamed the U.S. for the problems arising in banking issues, stating that Iran does not need a statement but rather requires economic action. According to the American newspaper Washington Post, Yukiya Amano, the Director General of the IAEA, said on Friday, June 14, in Vienna that the verification of Iran's nuclear program will take years and that agency experts are working very hard. Amano stated that the nuclear agreement between Iran and the P5+1 countries is still fragile, as stabilizing such an agreement requires extensive efforts. Hooshang Amir Ahmadi, a university professor and political analyst in New Jersey, told Radio Farda that given that Iran has complied with all its commitments under the JCPOA according to the agency's certification, Amano's remarks are concerning. On the other hand, Ali Larijani, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in an interview with the Lebanese television network Al-Manar, while blaming the U.S. for the banking issues, said that Iran does not need a statement as Mr. Kerry claims, 'We have issued a statement, and these banks are not willing to engage,' but rather needs economic action. According to Larijani, if the banking problems and economic issues of Iran are not resolved according to the JCPOA, it means that the Americans have not adhered to their agreements, and therefore Iran may reconsider its policy. Amir Ahmadi believes that the financial problems are not related to the sanctions that should be lifted under the JCPOA but rather stem from the initial U.S. sanctions. Furthermore, in case of a dispute over the implementation of the JCPOA, both parties to the nuclear agreement can refer to the designated committee for resolving disputes. Meanwhile, in the U.S., the controversial removal of a part of a video related to Iran from the U.S. State Department's website has generated significant news. This deleted section pertains to a press conference in December 2013, where then-State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki, while avoiding a direct answer to a Fox News reporter's question, stated, 'Diplomacy sometimes requires privacy.' The removal of this section from Psaki's remarks has drawn a reaction from the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and according to Reuters, Mr. Royce has accused the State Department's public affairs office of 'manipulating this video.'
