Amazing Discovery of 35,000-Year-Old Mummified Kitten in Siberia

The discovery of the remains of a mummified saber-toothed kitten, considered the first of its kind in paleontology, has excited scientists. Four years ago, a team of paleontologists found a frozen mummified kitten in northeastern Russia. The area where this mummified kitten was found is in the Republic of Yakutia or Yakutsk in Siberia, where temperatures can drop to 68 degrees Celsius below zero, which is one reason the mummified kitten has been preserved. The body of this mummified kitten with saber teeth has been frozen for 35,000 years. These findings were published in the journal 'Scientific Reports' and indicate that this kitten, approximately three weeks old, was found in an ice block. According to the report, the mummified kitten has short, thick, soft fur that is dark brown in color and has a head, front body, and incomplete pelvic bones. The article states that the mummified kitten has an unusually shaped snout, a large mouth, small ears, and a very large neck, and in addition to two rows of whiskers on its upper lip, it has long hair protruding from the corners of its mouth. It is noted that the kitten's head is well-preserved, and its front limbs are nearly complete, with sharp, curved claws remaining on its fingers. Mummified felids are considered 'extremely rare' due to preservation conditions, and since large cats are considered top predators, they are usually less numerous than rodents.
