America on the Anniversary of the 1979 Revolution: We Support the Iranian People's Struggle for a Democratic Future

Abram Pili, Deputy Special Representative of the United States for Iran, released a video message on the anniversary of the 1979 Revolution, addressing the Iranian people, stating that the U.S. will continue to support them in their struggle for a free and democratic future. Mr. Pili began his message by saying that 45 years ago on this day, the revolution in Iran led to the establishment of a regime based on fear, violence, and repression. According to him, the blatant violation of human rights against opponents, journalists, artists, and minorities is ongoing daily and only highlights the regime's weakness. This American diplomat further added that the Islamic Republic, instead of meeting the needs of the Iranian people, spends their money on expanding its nuclear program devoid of peaceful goals, exacerbating instability in the region, proliferating dangerous weapons to countries like Russia, and disrupting international trade. According to Abram Pili, the Islamic Republic has opened its arms to violence and corruption both domestically and abroad instead of promoting peace for Iran and the region. He pointed out the unprecedented isolation of the Islamic Republic on the international stage, stating that the Iranian people have shown courage and resistance against a regime that resorts to censorship, arrests, torture, and executions. The Deputy Special Representative of the U.S. for Iran attributed the emigration of young Iranians abroad and the formation of families and businesses outside Iran to their despair regarding the future of Iran under the rule of the Islamic Republic. Mr. Pili emphasized the continued support of the United States for the Iranian people's struggle for a free and democratic future, stating that the U.S. will continue to expose human rights violations by the Islamic Republic and confront these violators, such as removing the Islamic Republic from the UN Commission on the Status of Women. The continued provision of tools for the Iranian people to access uncensored internet to defend their future is another area that, according to Abram Pili, the U.S. will continue to pursue.
