American lawmakers labeled Hezbollah's attack on Israel as 'terroristic' and strongly condemned it

American lawmakers reacted on Saturday, August 6, to Hezbollah's deadly attack on northern Israel, targeting a playground, which has left 12 dead and over 30 injured, calling the attack 'terroristic' and condemning it strongly. Mike Johnson, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, in response to Hezbollah's attack supported by the Iranian government, said: 'Good must prevail over the evil proxy attacks of the Iranian regime.' He added: 'As we demonstrated last week, Congress stands with Israel to defend its land and people.' Republican Senator Bill Hagerty also urged the Biden-Harris administration to clearly state its support for Israel's right to defend its borders against Hezbollah. He said: 'The Biden-Harris administration must immediately remove all obstacles to sending weapons to Israel and pressure the UN to enforce Resolution 1701 and disarm Hezbollah.' Republican Senator Rick Scott deemed the Biden administration's policies as a factor in strengthening the Islamic Republic and increasing terrorist attacks worldwide, stating: 'From the early days of its administration, the Biden government has sought to appease the Iranian rulers and has given billions of dollars to the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism to finance its attacks against Israel and the United States.' He added: 'This attack reflects the siege of Israel by the Islamic Republic and its proxy forces, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.' Previously, the White House condemned this 'horrific' attack in a statement, saying: 'Our commitment to Israel's security against terrorist groups supported by the Islamic Republic, including Hezbollah, is ironclad and unwavering.' Hezbollah, which is strongly supported and bolstered by the Islamic Republic of Iran, reported on Saturday, August 6, at least 100 missile attacks on Israeli territory. One of these missiles, according to Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli army, was from Iranian-made 'Falaq 1' rockets and carried a warhead of 50 kilograms of explosives, which struck a soccer field in the Majdal Shams area of the Golan Heights, resulting in at least 12 Israeli citizens, mostly children and teenagers aged 10 to 20, being killed. Israeli forces have been exchanging fire almost daily with Hezbollah, a Hamas ally, since the Palestinian military group's attack on southern Israel on October 7 and the beginning of the war in Gaza. Hezbollah claims it attacks Israelis in support of the Palestinian Hamas. The increase in violence and unsuccessful mediation efforts have raised concerns about an all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah, a war that last occurred in 2006.
