American Woman Rejects $975 Million Check from Ex-Husband

An American woman who recently divorced her wealthy husband returned a check from her ex-spouse for nearly $975 million. According to Fox News, Ms. Su Ann Arnall, the ex-wife of Harold Hamm, an American billionaire and owner of Continental Resources, believes her share of Mr. Hamm's $13.5 billion fortune is much greater than the amount of the check. The couple lived together for 26 years before deciding to separate. The bank check was signed by Mr. Hamm and was delivered to Ms. Arnall's legal team by his representatives on Monday, January 15. However, Ms. Hamm quickly rejected it. Michael Burrage, Mr. Hamm's attorney, stated in a press release on January 16 that 'Ms. Arnall has informed through her advisor that she will not accept the payment... because Ms. Arnall did not want the court to dismiss her appeal due to accepting this amount.' Arnall is currently awaiting a ruling from the appeals court regarding her initial divorce decree from Harold Hamm. According to this ruling issued in November, Hamm will receive only $995 million from his ex-wife's fortune, which must be added to other assets, one of which is a 'farm in California.' The New York Post also reported on this divorce, stating that 'Harold Hamm' is also dissatisfied with the court's ruling, claiming that the recent drop in oil prices has caused him billion-dollar losses. 'Harold Hamm' is the 35th wealthiest person in the United States. He claims to have spent '20 million dollars' during the divorce process and therefore wrote the check for $974,790,317 instead of $995 million.
