Amir Reisiann: Phone Call from Tomaj Salehi Has Been Established from Prison

Tomaj Salehi's lawyer states that the issue with the imprisoned artist's phone card has been resolved 'since yesterday' and his phone call has been established. Amir Reisiann, the defense attorney for Tomaj Salehi, the protest rapper currently in Dastgerd prison in Isfahan, announced this news on Sunday, June 6, via the social media platform X, stating that his client had a call with him 'today' and mentioned that 'promises have been made to resolve the visiting issue.' According to previous announcements by Mr. Reisiann, 'one day after the death sentence was communicated,' the political prisoner's calls were 'cut off' and his visits were also 'terminated because they were conditional on filming.' This action was taken while prison officials claimed it was based on a 'judicial order,' whereas the court stated that it had issued 'no such order' in this matter. Previously, on Thursday, May 17, Tomaj Salehi's lawyers announced that they had filed a request for appeal with the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic regarding this protest singer's case. Amnesty International has previously urged the judiciary of the Islamic Republic to immediately and unconditionally release Tomaj Salehi by revoking his death sentence. The issuance of a death sentence for Tomaj Salehi, the protest rapper, has sparked a wave of domestic and international reactions. Additionally, Peter Gabriel has joined the campaign 'Free Tomaj Immediately.' Yiwan Ri, a member of the German parliament and political sponsor of Tomaj Salehi, described the intensification of pressure on him as 'horrific.' Furthermore, Mohammad Rasoulof, after receiving the special jury prize at Cannes, stated that the people of Iran are being held hostage by the Islamic Republic. Tomaj Salehi is set to receive the international 'Havel' award for 'creative dissent.' Amnesty International has warned about the execution of eight protesters. The attribution of the charge of 'baghi' to five political prisoners and their transfer to the quarantine of Evin prison has also been reported. Protests against the detention of Daniel Moghaddam and Vafa Ahmadpour have been noted; Nasir Mashkouri stated that we are witnessing the emergence of a new type of 'resistance music' in Iran.
