An Application for Reporting Crimes Against Humanity

The International Bar Association, in collaboration with LexisNexis, has launched an application to report crimes against humanity. This application aims to securely document reports that are verifiable and usable in international human rights courts. While social media is increasingly used to report and document crimes against humanity and raise public awareness about violations of laws around the world, many of these reports lack the necessary credibility for use in various courts globally. Now, the International Bar Association hopes to hold perpetrators of crimes such as genocide, torture, and war crimes accountable with this application, which is also supported by human rights lawyers, journalists, and news researchers. The application, named 'Eyewitness to Crimes,' is expected to revolutionize the fight for human rights. Mark Ellis, the director of the International Bar Association, states that it has been very difficult to verify the credibility and accuracy of photos and videos taken with mobile phones without jeopardizing the safety of those who captured them. As an organization that advocates for the voices of victims of these crimes, the International Bar Association seeks to empower human rights activists worldwide who witness these crimes and bring the perpetrators to justice. This application is designed based on extensive research regarding the role of evidence in international, regional, and national courts and includes features that guarantee the accuracy and credibility of photos and videos, as well as the location where they were taken. Additionally, the person submitting the photo or video can choose to remain anonymous or identify themselves. When an individual records a crime, the application automatically identifies the location, date, and time of the incident. The individual can also add any other information they wish to the photos. This information is stored within the application. Furthermore, this application can determine whether the video or photo is authentic or has been artificially created or edited. After submitting these photos or videos, they will only be accessible to legal experts within the organization, who will review them to determine whether the information provided is factual and whether it can be used in court.
