An 'Incident' at a Revolutionary Guard Naval Center Left One Dead and Several Injured

An 'incident' at one of the naval centers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Thursday left one dead and several injured. Iranian state media reported on Thursday, March 16, citing the IRGC Navy, that in this 'fire incident,' an IRGC employee named Mostafa Abdollahi lost his life. According to the statement, Mostafa Abdollahi 'died due to the severity of his injuries while on duty.' The incident was severe enough that, according to the official IRGC statement, 'several firefighters were also injured while extinguishing the fire.' However, the IRGC Navy did not specify the location or city of the 'incident' nor the name of the center where the 'fire' reportedly occurred. Iranian military facilities have repeatedly been the site of events referred to as 'incidents' in recent years, but it later became clear that these facilities had been targeted by infiltration. For instance, last September, Iranian state media quoted the Ministry of Defense accusing the Israeli foreign intelligence service of a sabotage plot against the Islamic Republic's missile program. Two days before the start of Donald Trump's second presidential term in the U.S., the Islamic Republic unveiled a missile base of the IRGC Navy in an unspecified location in the Persian Gulf. Iranian state television reported on Saturday, January 29, that this base was built 500 meters deep at an unknown point in the Persian Gulf.
