An Iranian has escaped from a state prison in the USA

An Iranian who was extradited from the Czech Republic to the USA last year on charges of torturing and mutilating an American has managed to escape from prison. Hossein Niyari and two other inmates from Orange County Jail in California were last seen at 5 AM local time. The Associated Press has reported that a large search operation is underway to find them. A spokesperson for the Orange County police stated that investigators know how the three inmates managed to escape but will not disclose the details at this time. Besides Mr. Niyari, a murder suspect and another suspect charged with armed assault and attempted murder have also escaped from prison. Hossein Niyari, now 37 years old, kidnapped a pharmacy owner in California in the fall of 2012 with the help of several accomplices and took him to a desert where they believed he had hidden his money. The suspects tortured the pharmacy owner and, having gained nothing from their extortion, mutilated his genitals and left him in the desert. Mr. Niyari then fled from the USA to Iran. However, exactly one year later, last year, while attempting to travel from Prague to Spain, he was arrested by the Czech police. He was handed over to California judicial authorities on Monday, September 15, 2014, and had been in custody until his escape.
