Anahita Nahmati Posts Unveiled Photos on 'Chastity and Hijab' Day

In the latest artistic protest against the mandatory hijab in Iran, Anahita Nahmati, a cinema actress, has published unveiled photos from her birthday on the same day that the government has designated as 'Chastity and Hijab.' The release of Nahmati's unveiled photos on her Instagram account on Wednesday, July 21, comes at a time when female actors and artists opposing the mandatory hijab and appearing without the approved cover of the Islamic Republic have faced judicial repercussions. Some of these actresses have been forced to announce their withdrawal from acting. Additionally, a legal case has been opened against individuals including Taraneh Alidoosti, Marzieh Boroumand, Katayoun Riahi, Shaghayegh Dehghan, Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, and Hengameh Qaziani, which exemplifies the security and judicial pressures on protesting actors. Taraneh Alidoosti, who previously stated she would withdraw from acting in support of nationwide protests and has no intention of leaving Iran, announced that the Ministry of Intelligence has confiscated her passport. The emphasis of the Islamic Republic officials on combating 'unveiling' and the actions of 'agents' are also highlighted, along with the temporary detention of protesters against the hijab situation outside the judiciary. Furthermore, Afsoon Bayegan has been summoned to court for 'wearing a hat' and 'exposing an object.' There was also an unsuccessful attempt by 'self-appointed forces' to disrupt a concert at Vahdat Hall, and the Tehran prosecutor's office has filed charges against actress Shaghayegh Dehghan. Afsoon Bayegan has also withdrawn from acting.
