Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Reach Agreement in Divorce Case After Eight Years

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Hollywood stars, have finally reached an agreement in their divorce case after eight years of legal battles, although not all legal disputes between the two parties have been resolved. The American magazine 'People' reported that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt announced on Monday, December 31, that they had reached a written agreement regarding the initiation of the process to resolve financial disputes and legal consequences of the divorce, which was submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court. Ms. Jolie's lawyer stated, 'My client filed for divorce eight years ago and relinquished all shared assets with Brad Pitt. Since then, her focus has been on providing peace and healing for the family. This agreement is just part of an eight-year process, but she is very happy that this part of the dispute has come to an end.' The agreement does not specify any other details apart from the two parties waiving financial support based on their shared life. The finalization of this agreement requires approval from the court judge. Brad Pitt sued Angelina Jolie. Angelina Jolie, 49, and Brad Pitt, 61, were one of Hollywood's most famous couples for about 12 years. Their official marriage lasted only two years, and Angelina Jolie filed for divorce in 2016. In part of the divorce filing submitted to the courts, she claimed that Brad Pitt had physically abused her and their children during a private jet flight from Europe to the United States. The FBI and the U.S. Child Welfare Agency investigated Brad Pitt's behavior during the flight. However, two months later, the FBI announced that it had concluded its investigation, and the U.S. Attorney's Office did not pursue charges against Brad Pitt. Angelina Jolie later informed the courts that she had decided to drop the complaint due to family considerations and the peace of her children. The couple has a total of six children. Three children are biological offspring from their 12-year relationship, and three others are orphans from Cambodia, Vietnam, and Ethiopia whom they have adopted. In 2019, the court confirmed the legal separation of Ms. Jolie and Mr. Pitt and ruled that their financial disputes and child custody rights should be examined in a separate proceeding. During the proceedings, four of the couple's children reached legal age, and custody issues do not involve them. Only their other two children, twins named Knox and Vivienne, are still 16 years old. In June of this year, one of their children, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, was able to officially remove the word 'Pitt' from her name after reaching legal age. Despite the fame of both actors, details of their legal and financial disputes have not leaked to the media. The divorce issue has not significantly impacted Brad Pitt's film career, and since then, he has appeared in successful films like 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' and received multiple awards as an actor and producer. However, Angelina Jolie has appeared in fewer films and has directed several documentary and narrative works.
