Another Field Commander of Hezbollah Killed in Israeli Attack

Israel announced that a senior field commander of the Radwan unit in the Hezbollah group from Lebanon was killed in an airstrike in southern Lebanon. The death of a figure close to the extremist group Hamas in Lebanon was also reported in another Israeli attack in southern Lebanon. Hamas is recognized as a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union. The Israeli army and two security sources in Lebanon stated that the Israeli attack on Thursday evening, July 18, resulted in the death of Ali Jafar (Habib) Matouq. Matouq had replaced Ali Ahmad Hussein, the then commander of the Radwan unit in southern Lebanon, who was also killed in an Israeli attack four months ago. The Israeli army also reported the death of another Hezbollah field commander in the attack that led to Matouq's death in the Hajir area, stating that several other members of this unit were killed. According to the Israeli army, the Radwan unit was actively involved in recent Hezbollah attacks on northern Israel. Mohammad Hamadi, a hospital director in the Tebbeneh area of southern Lebanon, said that following the Israeli attack on Thursday evening, 18 injured individuals were transferred to his hospital. Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, warned in his speech on Ashura Day that Hezbollah would expand its attacks in Israel to other parts of the country. Hezbollah has been conducting a parallel battle to the Gaza war since the day after the extremist Hamas group attacked Israeli territory on October 7, which led to the Israeli army's war in Gaza, sending rockets and explosive drones towards Israel daily. Meanwhile, a Lebanese security source told AFP that the Israeli attack on Thursday evening near the village of Jmeijmeh in southern Lebanon resulted in the death of a commander linked to Hamas. The Islamic Group, a Palestinian paramilitary organization close to the extremist group Hamas, announced in a statement that Israel had killed Mohammad Hamid Jabareh. Hamas confirmed in a separate statement that Jabareh, known as Abu Mahmoud, was one of the commanders of this group and confirmed his death in the Israeli attack. The Israeli army stated that Jabareh was responsible for conducting 'terrorist attacks and launching rockets' against Israel. The Secretary-General of Hezbollah recently met with the Secretary-General of the Islamic Group, whose group is close to the Muslim Brotherhood, to coordinate attacks on Israel.
