Another Footballer Summoned to the Culture and Media Prosecutor's Office

The news agency 'Mizan', affiliated with the Iranian judiciary, reported the summoning of 'another footballer' to the special branch for sports crimes of the Culture and Media Prosecutor's Office. This news agency reported on Thursday, January 7, that this former national football team player and Persepolis team member has been summoned to provide explanations. The identity of this footballer has not been disclosed, and he is required to appear on Saturday (January 9) at the second branch of the Culture and Media Prosecutor's Office to provide necessary explanations. The 'Mizan' news agency did not clarify whether the summoning of this footballer is related to the case of Sosha Makani, the goalkeeper of the Persepolis team. Sosha Makani was summoned by the judiciary this week following the publication of images of him with several girls on social media platforms, including Telegram, and was transferred to Evin prison after his arrest. The judiciary's news agency stated that 'the temporary detention order for Sosha Makani was issued due to a private complainant.' Meanwhile, Sosha Makani claimed that after his mobile phone was stolen, several of his 'private' photos were published online. On January 6, Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi, the Tehran prosecutor, warned athletes and artists regarding the dissemination of what he called 'inappropriate' and 'against Islamic values' images on social media in connection with this footballer's case. The 'Nameh News' website also reported on Friday (January 8) that 'relevant authorities intend to more seriously address the publication of content and images of prominent sports and cinema figures on social media.' This site warned 'superstars' to be more cautious about the photos and content they publish. In recent days, some media outlets reported the summoning of five Persepolis team players by the judiciary, which the 'Mizan' news agency denied.
